Brooklands College Weybridge campus redevelopment

Public exhibition planned for 12th July

Brooklands College is seeking to redevelop its Weybridge campus and wants to hear from the local community to help shape its future.

The College is hosting a public exhibition at:

  • Brooklands College (Berkeley Building), Weybridge Campus, Heath Road, Weybridge, Surrey, KT13 8TT.
  • 2pm – 8pm, Tuesday 12 July 2022

The College offers a wide range of courses notably in STEM (Science, technology Engineering and Maths) including engineering, construction, and healthcare – which makes an essential contribution to the local Weybridge economy.

It provides the local community access to specialist training and vocational learning, alternative education for 14–16-year-olds and specialist provision for those with learning difficulties and disabilities.

Looking to draw on the significance of our role in local development, the College has strong links with local schools and is also renowned for its high-quality provision, helping students with disabilities or special learning needs realise their full potential.

Christine Ricketts, the Principal of the College, said:

“The College’s plans will upgrade our teaching buildings, so they are fit for purpose, and put the College on a stable, financial footing.  They will ensure the future of our campus provides access to the highest standards of training and vocational learning, whilst guaranteeing the conservation of its unique heritage.

“We do hope our community will come along to the exhibition and have their say on these exciting plans.”

The College has teamed up with Cala Homes to explore how best to sensitively redevelop the site as part of a holistic redevelopment of the estate to provide:

  • The transformation of the College’s teaching environment
  • The refurbishment and renewal of the site’s historic mansion building
  • New homes, including affordable homes and essential worker accommodation for local people
  • The delivery of a new sports hall and independent working hub for the use of the College and wider local community
  • The enhancement of the woodland to the south of the Mansion (Brooklands Woodland) – opening it up for the local community to enjoy.

The redevelopment provides the opportunity to bring further community benefits to the area, including improved sports facilities and better enterprise links with business.

For those who cannot attend in person, a virtual exhibition will be launched in early July and can be accessed via: www.brooklandsgrove.co.uk. On the website you can also view further information about emerging plans and provide feedback online.

The consultation will close on Sunday 31st July 2022.
